The Northumberland coast is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The Cheviot Hills, coastal paths, castles of Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh, Farne Islands and Holy Island, the historic town of Alnwick all offer the potential for a great Bank Holiday weekend to suit all tastes.
According to Country Life, October 2002, "Alnwick is the most picturesque market town in Northumberland, and the best place to live in Britain". The town's greatest building is Alnwick Castle. It is popular with film-makers, Harry Potter, Blackadder, and Robin Hood Prince of Thieves are some of the films shot here.
The YHA hostel was newly refurbished when it reopened in Spring 2011. It is in the centre of Alnwick and housed in the Old Court House. It is fully licensed and has its very own "Archers Ale".
The restaurant provides a full breakfast and evening meals service. For those using Bed & Breakfast accommodation the town of Alnwick is well served with places to eat.
Because this is a Bank Holiday weekend, the Youth Hostel wants details of numbers well in advance so please help by booking early and BEFORE SATURDAY JANUARY 14TH 2012.
