"Probably the friendliest walking club in Yorkshire"
BRADFORDWALKING.ORG
Bradforwalking.org (The Clubs website)
I have redesigned and maintained the Club’s website for about 16 months now, although I know that we get many visitors who are not Club members, I get very little feedback from members. In an effort to encourage feedback and to stimulate interest in the website, I have written this article which I hope will help to give details of what can be found on the site.
The Homepage
This page is where I place items of news which I consider to be of significance to Club members and other members of the public who have an interest in outdoors and walking. The column at the top left hand side named “News and Features” contains a list of links to articles which have previously been placed on the homepage which, although not now considered current news, may still be of interest. The navigation bar located beneath the masthead contains eight headings each with a drop- down menu. This navigation bar is present on every page and represents an impression of continuity throughout the site.
The Syllabus
The Club’s current walking programme is inset into this page, and it can be seen and downloaded by anyone who has Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on their computer. A glance at the page will show a new toolbar present beneath the site’s navigation bar, this toolbar contains many tools which you may find useful for working with the walking programme which is in PDF (portable document format) The main tool which you may want to use, the “Printer” is the first icon on the left; this allows you to print out the document, either a single page at a time or in its entirety. The second icon from the left “disk” allows you to save the document to your computer, from where it can be opened independently of the browser. The third icon from the left “Envelope” allows you to send the document attached to an email or a link to the document by email.
Membership Form
The link on the syllabus dropdown menu points to the “membership form” which also has the Acrobat Reader toolbar, the toolbar performs the same functions for the membership form as the one on the Syllabus page.
The History page
This page contains a potted history of Bradford CHA. I am currently intending to update this page and if any member would like to work on this with me, I would appreciate the help. The drop down menu from this heading has links to the Club’s constitution and newsletter archive, which contains back copies of the newsletters in PDF format. Links to some YouTube videos which I have uploaded is also on the drop down menu.
The Contact page

On this page you will find a feedback form which is available for anyone who does not have email, to make contact with me and therefore with the Club. There is also a drop down link to a list of club committee members and their contact details.
The Links page

I have pursued a policy of exchanging links with other Clubs and organisations with similar objects to our own. On the links page is a list of the organisations with which we have a reciprocal link arrangement. I have also included links to useful sites such as Amazon and DalesBus. Along the bottom of this page are links to Barbara Parkin’s blogs and the Centenary walk 2002/3.
